.George McIsaac is the owner and principal consultant of Geology & Mining Evaluation Consulting, a firm specializing in mine design, strategic planning, and economic evaluation of mining projects across South America, Canada, and Africa. He is fluent in French, English, and Spanish.
George holds a degree in Mining Engineering and a master’s degree from McGill University in Montreal, as well as a Ph.D. in Mining Engineering from Queen’s University in Kingston. With over 40 years of experience in consulting, operations, teaching, and research, he is recognized as an authority in hard-rock underground mining, particularly in narrow-vein deposits with complex geometries. His expertise also extends to open-pit mining and a variety of deposit types.
His primary focus is on gold and copper, though he has significant experience with other precious and base metals, iron ore, lithium, and rare earth elements. During the first two decades of his career, George worked as an engineer for several mining companies in Canada and Chile. His most recent operational role was as Superintendent of Engineering at Barrick’s El Indio Mine in Chile, where he oversaw design, planning, services, and special projects for three underground mines, as well as the development of the site’s closure plan.
George is a registered Professional Engineer in the provinces of Quebec and Ontario. He is a Qualified Person under NI 43-101 and a Qualified Valuator under CIMVal, the Canadian Institute of Mining’s standards for mineral property valuation.
In addition to his professional work, George serves as Director, Secretary, and Treasurer of Fundación Mineros Contra el Cáncer (Miners Against Cancer Foundation), a Chilean charitable organization supporting children from low-income families affected by cancer.
George is an avid golfer and realizes that he will never be any good at it.
